COME TO ME

Ellen Tift of Worldwide Groove Corporation talks about the new direction of their future releases and also discusses the creative process on the songwriting and music production of their original electronic chillout song "Come to Me." Ellen tells some of the the songwriting tips and techniques she used at around the 5:20 mark for those who are specifically interested in that.

Who am I to you
Why did you choose me to love
I am so small, you know well
What I’m incapable of

You gave the final word
I can’t love as you deserve
I can’t love as you deserve
Yet you’ve awakened me
I need you desperately
I need you desperately

Come to me, come to me
Come to me, come to me
Run on the stars
Ride on the winds of every sun
I’m in your arms
But I still need you to come

How do I bide my time
How can I possibly go on
This place is not my home
This air is toxic to my lungs

Give me the strength to last
Without you I’m destroyed
Without you I’m destroyed
Please make this aching pass
Show me you hear my voice
Show me you hear my voice

Come to me, come to me
Come to me, come to me
Run on the stars
Ride on the winds of every sun
I’m in your arms
But I still need you to come
Run on the stars
Ride on the winds of every sun
I’m in your arms
But I still need you to come

Glitter & Bliss

Fun Facts about this song:
-This song is not to another person.
-This song was the 7th consecutive monthly music release in the Year of the Groove.
-Ellen wrote the lyric and melody of this song over a track Kurt started. It originally only had 2 chords, but later they changed it so there would be more chords during the prechorus to break up the monotony.
-Individual instrumental stems of this song are available for people to make their own remixes. These can be purchased on iTunes, Amazon, and BandCamp. People who join the mailing list can download the basic stems for free from their Reverbnation player.
-Ellen wrote a blog post all about this song. Read it here.

GLITTER & BLISS

[verse 1]  I was young and you knew that full well
So you sang my song
Then you gave a tour of heaven and hell
And I came along

[pre 1] I see why, why, why
You and I, I, I
could feed each other’s needs
But ‘til I wake, wake, wake
You will take, take, take
this place inside of me

[chorus 1] So I’m trying to remember
all the reasons that I loved you,
and it’s tragic how I fell
I was naive and got tempted,
but your love was only rented
first you give, and then you sell

[ hook] You’re pushing glitter and bliss
Glitter and bliss
Keep pushing Glitter and bliss
Glitter and bliss

[verse 2] You let me drive, you’d be content to ride
but you defined the road
You hid it well, behind the promise of wealth
I’d be rich alone

[pre 2] So I gave, gave, gave
And you made, made, made
Me promise even more
And I tied, tied, tied
Up my life, life, life
in what I’m not made for

[chorus 1] So I’m trying to remember
all the reasons that I loved you,
and it’s tragic how I fell
I was naive and got tempted,
but your love was only rented
first you give, and then you sell

[ hook] You’re pushing glitter and bliss
Glitter and bliss
Keep pushing Glitter and bliss
Glitter and bliss

[bridge] You are a counterfeit
You did not create bliss
You cannot promise
such things, such things, such things as this

[chorus 2] You played it as a beacon,
so my resolution weakened
and I let you be my star.
I was shackled as your slave
in the moment that I prayed
to the cult of what you are

And your Glitter & Bliss

[hook with bridge phrases on outro]

HUMAN

words and music by Ellen Tift

A generation slumbers through the war
We all celebrate the castles
built on crumbling shores
And we deny the damage done
Take another dose to keep us numb

What has chased our purpose from our minds?
Our arms were meant to gather up
sacred treasures that we find
And yet we trade our love for stones
As we limp with shattered bones

Oh
Oh
We are human
Human

Oh
Oh
We are human
Human

A billion mustard seeds pervade the winds
Blown away, lost and forgotten,
before their life begins
and yet we harvest barren land
The fruitless toil of busy hands

We try to drive our tanks through sapphire walls
Try to bring down the paradise
destined for us all
We despise
The sacrifice

Oh
Oh
We are human
Human

Oh
Oh
We are human
Human

Let’s all meet upon this mountain top
With empty hands and open hearts
Let’s all come
And simply be made one

It's You I Love

Fun Facts about this song:

-Ellen wrote a blog post about the creative process behind this song. Read it here.

IT'S YOU I LOVE

I’m a soul set afloat
in the atmosphere
I’m the ghost with the most
never to be feared
Oh the taste of my kiss
is ethereal bliss
on your tongue
your tongue

So I watch when you walk
as I drift above
There’s a hole in my soul
‘cause it’s you I love
As you pass through my haze
paranormal blaze
You’re the sun
my sun

Ooooooh
Oh it’s you I love
Ooooooh
Oh it’s you I love

I am flesh
but I’m incomplete
Every breath, every step
oh, it’s you I seek
I’m a slave to the rush
of your whisper touch
I become
Undone

Ooooooh
Oh it’s you I love
Ooooooh
Oh it’s you I love
 Ooooooh
Oh it’s you I love
Ooooooh
Oh it’s you I love

KISS ME SLOW

Grab me fast
Kiss me slow
Take me now
To that place we go
I’ve felt your lips
Ten thousand times
They still get me
Every time

Kiss me
Slow, baby
Kiss me
Slow
Pull Me
Close, and
Kiss me
Slow

Open the window
Pull the shade
Come to me
light my flame
There’s something sacred
When we kiss
‘Cause you’re the only one
Who’s known me like this

Kiss me
Slow, baby
Kiss me
Slow
Pull Me
Close, and
Kiss me
Slow

[Io ti conosco di più
di quanto ti conosci
So portarti più su, di quanto tu riesci

Ogni tuo sguardo, ogni silenzio

Kiss me
Slow, baby
Kiss me
Slow
Pull Me
Close, and
Kiss me
Slow

THE LEGEND OF THE FALL

There’s a panic in the willow
Something isn’t right
A suicidal hunger
That puts the birds to flight

Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody help us now

Something’s going under on the inside
Lies and secrets thrive behind the wall
Silver tongues will carve their words to justify
The legend of the fall

Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody save us now

They crushed the hand that feeds us
With synergistic greed
Impunity, collusion, and control
Is corrupting every seed

Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody help us now

Something’s going under on the inside
Stones and arrows can’t break through the wall
The lunatic denies the call to rectify
The legend of the fall

Is there anyone to stop it now
Can anybody save us now

Something’s going under on the inside
Hell and fury burn behind the wall
Those who find the fountain come to realize
The legend of the fall

Only God can stop it now
God save us now

let's go.jpg

LET'S GO

Night heat, hot beat, and they raise the stakes
We're going all in, whatever it takes
We're on a mission, going way too fast
Got a job to do, no turning back

And now it's time for action
A rush of force
We make it happen

put your money on the line
let's go
and we turn it on a dime
let's go
and we're running out of time
let's go
whoa oh oh oh

two birds on a wire
let's go
take it down and then we fly
let's go
now the city's on fire
let's go
 whoa oh oh oh

[oh section with "let's go]

the chase never stops
let's go
we gonna kick it up
let's go
take it straight to the top
let's go

We're going hard, and we're running blind
Who's next, Take a number better get in line
We're on top of the world, the stars of this story
Got nothing to lose, no guts no glory

Love is the New Rich

Love Is The New Rich

Joy is the new young
Love is the new rich
Hope is the new beautiful
Peace is the new fix
Love is the new rich [repeat section]

If we don't have love
If we don't have love
If we don't have love
We don't have anything
If we don't know love
If we don't know love
What it looks like to love
We don't know anything

Everybody goes for the money
Fame and fortune fade once you got it
All that lasts is Love Is The New Rich
Digs and diamonds don't last forever
Where your heart is there is your treasure
Live your life like Love Is The New Rich

It's beautiful tragic
to live in this age
Let's conquer the madness
Grace is the new rage
Love is the new rich

If we don't have love
If we don't have love
If we don't have love
We don't have anything
If we don't know love
If we don't know love
What it looks like to love
We don't know anything

Everybody goes for the money
Fame and fortune fade once you got it
All that lasts is Love Is The New Rich
Digs and diamonds don't last forever
Where your heart is there is your treasure

MAKE ME FREE

Wake up, shake up,
cake on the make up
Look down, don’t drown,
I’m such a fake up
you see through me,
I’m dark and you know it
hocus focus,
the lens doesn’t show it

You've loved me all my life
All the way inside

Make me free
and surrounded by your loveliness
So free
in your wondrous eyes, I can rest with
Peace
You know all of me, still you want to
Be
With me endlessly, you make me free

I wait, can’t wait,
I don’t have the virtue
‘Til then, numb out,
Get drunk on your perfume
I’m so guilty,
gorgeous and filthy [alt: broken and filthy]
Wash me, fill me,
touch me and kill me [alt: touch me and still me]

I need you for my life
All the way inside

Make me free
and surrounded by your loveliness
So free
in your wondrous eyes, I can rest with
Peace
You know all of me, and still you want to
Be
With me endlessly, you make me free

Give me just a little taste of what you’ve got
Throw out a a line, give me something to hold on
Until you come it’s gonna be an long dark night
The thought of you is all that’s keeping me alive

SUPERMODEL ASTRONAUT

Words and Music by Ellen Tift ©2014 Rock of Life Music

Oh so typical
When I step into the heat and the flashes go pop
Pap-a-razzical
Everybody looks at me in these moon boots I rock

Oh -oh -oh
Now it's T minus twenty
Oh -oh -oh
Brace yourself

I am a power you can't stop, you can't stop
I'm a goddess in the sky, look me up, look me up
I'm a million dollar Venus, fill your cup, fill your cup
I'm a sassy supermodel astronaut, astronaut

Cosmo Logical
Spacey fashion on my back, my bedazzled jet pack
Ex-tra-restrial
All this anti-gravity looks amazing on me

Oh -oh-oh
Party with Haley's Comet
Oh -oh -oh
Watch me now

I am a power you can't stop, you can't stop
I'm a goddess in the sky, look me up, look me up
I'm a million dollar Venus, fill your cup, fill your cup
I'm a sassy supermodel astronaut, astronaut
I am a power you can't stop, you can't stop
I'm a goddess in the sky, look me up, look me up
I'm a million dollar Venus, fill your cup, fill your cup
I'm a sassy supermodel astronaut, astronaut

The only things as high
High as this orbit I do
Are my fabulous cheek bones
And my genius IQ

I am a power you can't stop, you can't stop
I'm a goddess in the sky, look me up, look me up
I'm a million dollar Venus, fill your cup, fill your cup
I'm a sassy supermodel astronaut, astronaut
I am a power you can't stop, you can't stop
I'm a goddess in the sky, look me up, look me up
I'm a million dollar Venus, fill your cup, fill your cup
I'm a sassy supermodel astronaut, astronaut

WHEN THE HOLIDAY BRINGS YOU HOME

©2014 Rock of Life Music
Words and Music by Ellen Tift

I watch the stars,
and I think of you.
There's no one else on earth I'd rather see.
I feel the rush
Of this holiday
Without you it's all meaningless to me

You're the joyfulness and wonder
You're the moon that I am under
I will wait for you, my treasure
Until we are together,

You're my promise, you're my reason
You're the spirit of this season
I will wait for you, my treasure
Until we are together

When the holiday brings you home
When the holiday brings you home
The most wonderful gift I know
Is when the holiday brings you home

When you are here
There's no other place
Like the warmth and comfort of your gaze
And in the glow
Of your loveliness
Everything around can fall away

In the stillness, you're the meaning
It's for you my heart is beating
I will wait for you, my treasure
Until we are together

Every moment I am breathless
I keep looking to the heavens
I would wait for your forever
Until we are together

When the holiday brings you home
When the holiday brings you home
The most wonderful gift I know
Is when the holiday brings you home

UNTIL I HAVE YOU

[verse 1]
You are where it all begins
A starry whisper on the solar winds
You alone control my breath
All I know is my soul shall never rest

[chorus]
Until I have you
I’m not alive unless I know you
My heart was made to hold you
I cannot rest until I have you

[verse 2]
Space and time will pass away
But in it’s exit our love will remain
And when I finally shed this skin
The everlasting romance will begin

[chorus]
When I have you
I’m not alive unless I know you
My heart was made to hold you
I cannot rest until I have you

[bridge]
Come and rescue me
Come and take me
Come and capture me

Come and rescue me
Come and take me
Come and enrapture me

[chorus]
Until I have you
I’m not alive unless I know you
My heart was made to hold you
I cannot rest until I have you

You Still Give Me Butterflies

You still give me butterflies my love
You still give me butterflies each time you hold me near
And whisper in my ear
You still give me butterflies my love

Looking in your eyes
Is heaven to me
And how I fantasize about
What your kiss does to me
My love, your charm is so disarming and ooh baby you

You still give me butterflies my love
You still give me butterflies each time you hold me near
And whisper in my ear
You still give me butterflies

Baby when you hold me close
It melts me inside
And darling your words so sweet
Bring a tear to my eye
Every day we grow a little older and ooh baby you

You still give me butterflies my love
You still give me butterflies each time you hold me near
And whisper in my ear
You still give me butterflies my love
